Here he is! Meet Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S - an exact copy of the iPhone X, but only half the price and with additional bells and whistles from Chinese manufacturers...March 27, Shanghai, Xiaomi presented a new frameless flagship - the Mi MIX 2S smartphone. Although PR people made a splash in all media weeks before the official announcement, it was at the official presentation, which attracted more than 1,500 spectators from China and other countries, that the company spoke in detail about the price and how exactly it was positioning its new product.
Naturally, much of the presentation was spent making comparisons with the iPhone X, which came out just five months earlier. Xiaomi did not hide that for the company Mi MIX 2 is a clear reason to be proud of its product, which in some ways has reached the quality of Apple's flagship.
Oddly enough, in almost all respects the Mi MIX 2S is identical to the iPhone X, and in some ways even superior, namely in the amount of RAM, the dual camera is the same as the iPhone X in terms of photography.
And most importantly: this miracle is more than half the price of the iPhone X, if you count at Chinese prices.
According to the manufacturer, Mi MIX 2S will be the first smartphone in which Xiaomi will integrate its “smart” assistant XiaoAI (the Chinese pronounce it “Xiaai” with an emphasis on the last syllable). Previously, it was already available in select Mi AI Speaker Mini devices, an analogue of the Google Home smart speaker.
In general, Xiaomi does everything that Google Assistant or Siri does: for example, it can show “photos taken in Shanghai last October” on command. A video was shown from the stage in which the Xiaomi assistant was compared to Siri, but it recognized commands better than its competitor from Apple: “And again we crushed the iPhone with its Siri - one of the best and most advanced voice assistants in the world,” Lei Jun concluded.
It’s unfortunate, but for now Mi MIX 2S will be available only in China - the start of sales is scheduled for April 3. Jun didn’t say anything from the stage about other countries, and after the presentation, Xiaomi representatives spoke about it very carefully: in general, they are going to start selling it later in “selected” countries.
It is not known whether Russia is among the chosen ones, just as Russian prices are unknown - in the examples above I recalculated at the current rate, however, in official Russian retail Xiaomi smartphones are more expensive than the result of a simple conversion. However, Xiaomi calls Russia the third priority market after China and India: we will let you know if they decide to bring the new product to the Russian Federation. Author: GEximius
