USA The most powerful computer

USA The most powerful computerTwice as powerful as its predecessor - without undue modesty, the most powerful computer on earth was presented...
The Oak Ridge National Laboratory in the United States announced the launch of the most powerful computer, Summit, which has on board a power of 200 petaflops, which in terms of characteristics is more than twice as good as its direct Chinese competitor Sunway TaihuLight.
It's no secret that some scientific and technical tasks, including accurate modeling of physical processes, require enormous computing power; they cannot be performed on one or even hundreds of ordinary computers, and this is precisely what super computers are used for, consisting of thousands of powerful computers with dozens of computing nuclei in each. Since they can perform resource-intensive calculations in an acceptable period of time, which is not possible for conventional computers, which will take much longer.
As it became known, the new super computer consists of 4608 IBM AC922 servers. Each server has two 22-core IBM Power9 processors and 6 NVIDIA Tesla V100 video amplifiers and of course the server has 512 gigabytes of DDR4 RAM, as well as 96 gigabytes of high-bandwidth memory. The data transfer speed through the switches is 100 gigabits per second. The computer is controlled by the Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.4 operating system. Since a larger number of powerful computers and servers consumes a larger amount of electricity, somewhere around 13 megawatts. There was also a problem with huge heat generation and in order to effectively remove heat through the cooling system, more than 250 liters of water are passed through every second.
