Announcement of a sensational model of either a smartphone or a tablet from Samsung, which should go on sale at the end of this year...Representatives of the Korean edition of ET News managed to talk with a source who is well acquainted with the development of Samsung's first flexible smartphone. According to new data, this will be a premium device with a huge 7.3-inch OLED screen, production of which will start in November, and the official announcement and start of sales will be in December 2018.
Let us remind you that rumors about this model have been circulating for several years, while the timing of its appearance on the market has regularly shifted to later and later dates. However, this time precise data about each stage of production has appeared. The source said that Samsung will launch the production of flexible OLED screens for the new smartphone in March of this year, then in September it will start pilot production of the necessary components and test assembly of small batches of the smartphone, as well as the first demonstrations behind closed doors (most likely the acquaintance will be timed to coincide with IFA 2018). This chain will allow the manufacturer to take into account the wishes of experts and fully prepare for mass production in November 2018.
"Samsung will position its first foldable smartphone as a 'super premium' device, both in terms of features and cost. Both indicators will significantly exceed the parameters of existing premium smartphones and support the model’s focus on exceptional performance, design and ergonomics worthy of a device of this class,” noted the Korean leaker. Note that in addition to the timing, as a result of the latest leak, a little more has become known about the format of the future Samsung Galaxy X.
It will be a kind of compact notebook. When closed, it will look like a regular vertically oriented smartphone, but if necessary, it can be opened like a book and thus turned into a compact tablet with a landscape screen orientation. Interestingly, this is exactly the format that Samsung itself showed back in 2014: The official launch of the model is scheduled for December, but it is not yet clear whether this will be just an announcement or whether sales will start at the same time.
It is logical to assume that the Korean manufacturer wants to be in time for the New Year season, when users buy gifts not only for themselves, but also for family and friends. However, if something goes wrong with mass production, then Samsung may shift sales to the beginning of the year. Author: GEximius
