Denmark and Ukraine

According to Mette Frederiksen, Europe is not doing enough to support Kyiv. Denmark handed over "all its artillery" to Ukraine, the prime minister of the Scandinavian kingdom said.

Europe should increase military support for Ukraine, which urgently needs ammunition. This statement was made by Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen on Sunday, February 18, during a panel discussion at the Munich Security Conference (MSC).

"We need to make sure that on Saturday (February 24, 2024), when this war will have been going on for two years, Ukraine will receive more supplies," the Danish online publication Jyllands-Posten quoted the head of the government as saying. Frederiksen specified that she meant ammunition, artillery, long-range missiles, drones and increased support within the coalition for providing Kyiv with F-16 fighter jets.

According to the politician, European countries "must, in the short term, provide Kyiv with what it needs, so that in the long term Ukraine can be welcomed into the EU and NATO."

Call to give weapons to Ukraine from warehouses in Europe

As Jyllands-Posten writes, Mette Frederiksen believes that Europe is not doing enough to support Ukraine: "She emphasizes that there are a lot of ammunition and other things in the warehouses of various countries."

"For its part, Denmark handed over all its artillery. Friends, I'm sorry to say this, but Europe still has ammunition in warehouses," the publication quoted the prime minister of the Scandinavian kingdom. "It's not about production, because we have the weapons. We have there are ammunition and air defense equipment that we do not need at the moment. We should hand them over to Ukraine."
