Marvel Studios has released the first trailer for Deadpool 3, starring Ryan Reynolds as Wade Wilson and Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, giving us a taste of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's only film in 2024.
After the 2023 Hollywood strikes, the only Marvel movie to be released by Marvel Studios in 2024 will be the finale of the Deadpool trilogy. However, the Phase 5 adventure is already being hyped as one of the biggest entries in the MCU as Deadpool finally joins the franchise.
After weeks of speculation, Reynolds and Marvel Studios finally released the first trailer for Deadpool 3 during the 2024 Super Bowl. Following numerous photos from the set of Deadpool 3, the debut trailer also confirmed once and for all that the film will officially be called Deadpool and Wolverine.
Deadpool and Wolverine was directed by Sean Levy, who also wrote the screenplay with Reynolds, Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick and Zeb Wells. Levi was very cryptic the other day about whether or not the trailer for the new Deadpool movie will be released during the Super Bowl.
One of the biggest elements of Deadpool and Wolverine is a major MCU tie-in, as Loki's Time Variance Authority is what ties the Waid film series to Marvel Studios continuity. While none of Loki's familiar TVA members are introduced, Matthew Macfadyen's mysterious character is revealed to be an agent named Paradox. While there is a character called Paradox in the Marvel comics, the Deadpool and Wolverine version looks to be a completely new incarnation.
As Deadpool tangles with the TVA, Paradox offers him the opportunity to become a hero among the heroes of the MCU, i.e. the Avengers. Deadpool and Wolverine establishes that Wade is more than willing to join, going so far as to christen himself "Marvel Jesus." The Deadpool and Wolverine trailer also makes it clear that the Fox-Marvel universe is coming to an end one way or another. Logan takes center stage in the final seconds of the Deadpool and Wolverine trailer as he closes in on Wade, but it's still a mystery how he got back.
